Description
Undyed Coated VICRYL™ Suture, 2-0, CT-1 Taper, 18", is a sterile, synthetic absorbable suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. It is coated with a polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate mixture, enhancing its handling characteristics and providing smooth tissue passage. The suture is designed for use in general soft tissue approximation and ligation, excluding cardiovascular and neurological procedures.
This suture offers excellent handling and superior knot security, with reliable performance even on the first throw. Its pliability and coated braided construction allow for precise control and consistent tension during tissue closure. The undyed configuration reduces visibility in certain clinical settings, especially where minimal color contrast is preferred.
VICRYL™ 2-0 gradually loses tensile strength through hydrolysis. Approximately 50% of its strength is retained at three weeks post-implantation, allowing for adequate tissue support during the critical healing phase. Complete mass absorption typically occurs between 56 and 76 days, making it suitable for internal tissues that do not require long-term support.
