Description
ETHILON™ Monofilament Suture is a nonabsorbable surgical suture composed of a long-chain aliphatic polyamide polymer, commonly referred to as nylon. It is designed for applications requiring extended wound support and minimal tissue reactivity. The monofilament configuration reduces tissue drag and promotes smooth suture passage, minimizing trauma during insertion.
This suture is dyed black to enhance visibility in tissue, improving accuracy in delicate surgical fields. ETHILON™ causes minimal acute inflammatory response, making it suitable for use in highly sensitive tissues. Over time, the suture undergoes a slow encapsulation process, and degradation is extremely gradual, typically occurring over a period of one to two years.
The product features a VAS100-4 spatula needle, which is specifically designed for ophthalmic and microsurgical procedures. The flat, spatulated tip allows controlled, fine-layer tissue engagement with minimal disruption, ideal for anterior segment or conjunctival closures. The 6-inch suture length supports precision in confined operative environments.
