Silvadene Cream 85g Tube is a topical antimicrobial agent primarily used for the prevention and treatment of wound infections, particularly in second and third-degree burns. Its active ingredient, silver sulfadiazine, has both antibacterial and antifungal properties, making it effective in preventing the growth of bacteria and fungi on burn wounds, thus reducing the risk of infection.

Silver sulfadiazine works by interfering with bacterial cell membrane synthesis and function, leading to the death of bacteria. It reduces the formation of harmful bacterial biofilms, which could hinder healing. The antifungal activity of the cream further enhances its use in treating infected burn wounds where fungal infections may occur.

The product is applied topically to the wound site, usually once or twice daily, depending on the severity of the condition. It should be applied as a thin layer, and the area may be covered with a sterile bandage to ensure proper absorption and protection from external contamination.
