Description
Omnipaque 300 mg, 50 mL, is a nonionic, water-soluble radiographic contrast medium containing iohexol. It is used in diagnostic imaging procedures requiring contrast enhancement, including computed tomography (CT), angiography, and urography. Iohexol belongs to the class of low-osmolar contrast agents and provides enhanced visualization of vascular structures and organ systems during radiological examinations.
The 300 mg iodine per mL concentration ensures adequate radiopacity for a wide range of diagnostic applications. Its low osmolality reduces the risk of adverse reactions compared to high-osmolar contrast media. The formulation is designed to be administered intravenously or intra-arterially depending on the imaging procedure being performed.
Omnipaque is generally well tolerated. Common side effects may include nausea, headache, warmth or pain at the injection site, and mild allergic-type reactions. Serious but rare reactions
