Description

Humulin N is Neutral Protamine Hagedorn insulin (human recombinant) also known as isophane insulin. It is a sterile white suspension that appears cloudy. Each humulin contains 100 units of human insulin per ml of a vial where each vial contains 10 ml solution. Humulin N is an intermediate-acting insulin that is indicated in patients with diabetes mellitus to control their blood sugar levels. It is used once or twice a day subcutaneously. Unlike rapid-acting insulin, its effect starts typically in 90 mins and lasts for about 24 hours.

Make sure the insulin appears uniformly cloudy upon mixing prior to application.

Humulin N is used subcutaneously on the upper arm, thigh, buttocks or abdominal wall. Do not use humulin N intravenously or via an insulin infusion pump. Humulin N may be used with prandial insulin where needed. It may also be mixed with HUMALOG or Humulin R prior to injecting.
