Description

The Antibacterial VICRYL™ Plus Coated Suture, size 4-0, 18", with PS-1 reverse cutting needle, is a synthetic, absorbable surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. It is coated with an antibacterial agent, triclosan, which is uniformly distributed across the suture surface to provide sustained antimicrobial activity.

This suture is constructed as a braided, undyed filament, which ensures strong knot security and flexibility during wound closure. The undyed composition is particularly suited for use in delicate tissue approximation where minimal pigmentation is preferred. The braided structure allows easy handling and minimal tissue drag during application.

VICRYL™ Plus Antibacterial Sutures demonstrate proven in vitro effectiveness in creating a zone of inhibition against common pathogens associated with surgical site infections, including Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, MRSA, and MRSE. This antimicrobial activity supports infection control strategies in surgical settings by reducing bacterial colonization on the suture surface.
