The TaperGuard Endotracheal Tube Mallinckrodt Oral Nasal Murphy Eye OD 9.5 mm ID 7 mm is a cuffed airway device designed to maintain a secure airway in adult patients. Constructed from medical-grade polyvinylchloride (PVC), the tube is clear and features a curved shape to facilitate insertion and anatomical alignment with the upper airway. The device is sterile and intended for single-patient use.

The defining feature of the TaperGuard line is its unique taper-shaped cuff. The cuff has a proximal diameter larger than the average adult trachea, tapering to a smaller distal diameter. This design reduces the potential for microaspiration by approximately 90% compared with conventional high-low (Hi-Lo) cuffs. Low-pressure inflation ensures minimal tracheal wall contact while maintaining a reliable seal, supporting patient safety during ventilation.

The endotracheal tube is available with a Murphy Eye tip, enabling continued airflow even if the main lumen becomes occluded. Its dimensions include a 7.0 mm inner diameter and 9.5 mm outside diameter, suitable for adult oral or nasal placement.
