Description

PDS™ II Absorbable Suture, Violet, Size 0, 36", with CT Needle, is a sterile synthetic monofilament suture composed of polydioxanone. It is engineered for extended tensile strength retention and reliable support during prolonged wound healing. The violet pigmentation enhances visibility during placement, while the monofilament structure ensures reduced tissue drag and minimizes the risk of bacterial adherence.

This suture includes a Taper Point CT Needle, 40 mm in length and 1/2 circle in shape. The needle is designed for smooth penetration through soft tissues without cutting, making it ideal for deep tissue approximation such as in abdominal closures, fascial layers, and general soft tissue repair where long-term mechanical integrity is required.

PDS™ II maintains approximately 80% of its tensile strength at 2 weeks, 70% at 4 weeks, and 60% at 6 weeks. This gradual loss of strength ensures that the tissue regains adequate structural support during early healing stages. Complete absorption occurs through hydrolysis over a period of 183 to 238 days.
