Description
Coated VICRYL™ PLUS Antibacterial Suture is an absorbable, braided synthetic suture made from polyglactin 910. It is uniquely formulated with IRGACARE® MP (triclosan), an antibacterial agent incorporated into the suture coating. This addition provides antibacterial protection by creating a localized zone of inhibition around the suture line, targeting common pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, including methicillin-resistant strains (MRSA, MRSE).
The suture features a braided construction that ensures flexibility, strength, and minimal memory, allowing for precise handling and ease of use during placement. Its coating facilitates smooth tissue passage and enhances knot tie-down, reducing tissue drag and improving security in closure. The antibacterial properties do not interfere with the tensile strength or absorption characteristics of the suture.
The undyed form of Coated VICRYL™ PLUS minimizes visual distraction in delicate or cosmetic procedures. The CT-1 taper point needle provides smooth penetration through soft tissue, making it well-suited for general surgical closures, including gynecologic, urologic, and soft tissue approximation procedures.
