Description

The Suture, Plain Gut 4-0 1X18 SC-1 Double-Armed is a natural absorbable suture derived from purified collagen of the serosal layer of bovine intestines. It is designed for short-term wound support, providing initial tensile strength while being gradually absorbed by the body through enzymatic digestion. The suture undergoes a controlled purification and manufacturing process to ensure uniform diameter and predictable absorption characteristics.

This suture features a double-armed SC-1 needle, which enhances precision in delicate surgical applications. The needle is manufactured from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring optimal sharpness and strength. The reverse cutting design of the needle facilitates smooth penetration through tough or fibrous tissues while minimizing unnecessary tissue trauma.

Plain Gut 4-0 provides sufficient tensile strength for early wound healing phases. However, since enzymatic absorption begins immediately upon implantation, the suture retains approximately 50% of its tensile strength at 5–7 days and is typically fully absorbed within 7 to 10 days, depending on patient factors.
