The PDO 2-0 Violet Suture is a synthetic, absorbable monofilament suture designed for general soft tissue approximation and ligation. It is composed of polydioxanone, a material known for its prolonged absorption profile and high initial tensile strength. The monofilament construction provides smooth tissue passage, reducing the risk of bacterial colonization and minimizing tissue trauma during placement.

The suture retains approximately 80–90% of its tensile strength at 14 days, ensuring sufficient wound support during the critical healing phase. By 28 days, the tensile strength decreases to 60–82%, followed by 47–79% retention at 42 days. This gradual loss of strength aligns with the natural tissue healing process, allowing for optimal wound closure.
