The ETHILON™ Monofilament Suture, Black, Size 6-0, 18", C-2 Needle, is a sterile, nonabsorbable surgical suture composed of long-chain aliphatic polyamides. Its monofilament construction offers smooth handling, reduced tissue drag, and minimal bacterial adherence. The suture is dyed black to enhance visibility during placement, aiding in precision and control in low-contrast surgical fields.

This suture is indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including skin closure and microsurgical applications. It is not absorbed by the body and maintains its tensile strength indefinitely, though it undergoes very slow encapsulation and degradation over a period of one to two years. The low tissue reactivity profile supports favorable healing outcomes and minimal inflammation.

The C-2 reverse cutting needle features a triangular cross-section with sharpened edges along the outer curvature, ideal for penetration of tougher tissues such as skin. The needle design enables clean entry and exit through dense layers while minimizing trauma and suture fraying.
