Description

The Suture Absorbable MAXON™ Polyglyconate 3-0 C-13 is a sterile, synthetic absorbable suture designed for reliable soft tissue approximation and ligation. Manufactured from polyglyconate, a copolymer of glycolic acid and trimethylene carbonate, it offers consistent tensile strength and predictable absorption characteristics. The monofilament construction provides smooth passage through tissue, minimizing trauma and reducing the risk of bacterial colonization along the suture line.

The suture is equipped with a 19 mm, 3/8 circle reverse cutting needle, enabling precise tissue penetration and secure placement in a variety of surgical procedures. The 30-inch suture length accommodates both general and specialty surgical applications, providing versatility for surgeons in soft tissue approximation and ligation. MAXON™ sutures are particularly suitable for pediatric cardiovascular tissue and peripheral vascular procedures where tissue growth is anticipated.

MAXON™ sutures maintain approximately 75% of their initial tensile strength at two weeks, 65% at three weeks, and 50% at four weeks post-implant, providing sustained wound support during critical early healing phases. Absorption is minimal for the first 60 days and essentially complete within six months, allowing adequate tissue healing while gradually reducing foreign material within the body.
