The IV START KIT PDI PREVANTICS is a comprehensive, sterile kit designed to facilitate safe and efficient peripheral intravenous catheter insertion. The kit contains essential components for site preparation, catheter stabilization, and post-insertion care, ensuring infection control and procedural consistency. Its latex-free materials accommodate patients with latex sensitivity, supporting broad clinical use in hospital, clinic, and long-term care settings.
Site preparation is supported by a PDI Prevantics™ CHG 1 mL antiseptic swab, which provides effective skin disinfection to reduce the risk of catheter-related bloodstream infections. The kit includes a ¾ inch x 18-inch tape and a 2-inch x 2-inch, 4-ply gauze pad to secure the IV site and absorb minor exudates, facilitating clean and stable placement. A change-date label is provided to support proper documentation and timely dressing changes, maintaining adherence to clinical protocols.
The kit also includes a 3/4-inch blue tourniquet for vein distension and a TEGADERM™ 1624W transparent dressing (2.375 in x 2.75 in) for catheter site coverage. The transparent dressing allows continuous site visualization without removal, supporting early detection of infiltration, phlebitis, or infection while maintaining a sterile barrier.
