SURGICEL® NU-KNIT™ Absorbable Hemostat, Sterile, 6 x 9 in, is a dense knitted hemostatic fabric composed of oxidized regenerated cellulose. It is designed for adjunctive use in surgical procedures to assist in the control of capillary, venous, and small arterial hemorrhage when conventional methods such as ligation or cautery are impractical or ineffective. The material provides reliable topical hemostasis across a broad range of operative settings.

The NU-KNIT configuration offers a thicker and more tightly woven structure compared to standard formulations, allowing enhanced strength and integrity during placement. Its dense construction supports wrapping around tissues and vessels and permits suturing in place when required. The material conforms readily to anatomical surfaces, helping maintain close contact with the bleeding site to promote clot formation.

The hemostat can be trimmed to the desired size to accommodate specific procedural requirements, including open and endoscopic applications. Upon contact with blood, the oxidized regenerated cellulose forms a gelatinous mass that assists in mechanical clot formation. The material is bioabsorbable and gradually resorbed by the body over time, reducing the need for removal in most cases.
