Suture, 5/0 8" Coated VICRYL™ Violet Braided with S-14 needle is a sterile, absorbable surgical suture composed of Polyglactin 910, a copolymer of glycolide and lactide. It is coated with a mixture of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to enhance handling properties, reduce tissue drag, and improve knot security. The violet dye provides enhanced visibility during surgical procedures.

This suture is indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including ophthalmic procedures. It is not recommended for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues. The 5/0 size offers fine diameter and is typically used for delicate tissue closure where minimal scarring and precise approximation are required.

The S-14 needle is a spatula-shaped needle with a 3/8 circle curvature, designed specifically for ophthalmic and microsurgical applications. Its flat profile and fine geometry allow controlled penetration with minimal trauma, making it ideal for surgeries involving the sclera or conjunctiva. The 8-inch length is suitable for short incisions or high-precision suturing.
